At the age of 21, Tamim Iqbal was already regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most capable batters. He will continue to play an important role at the top of the order for many years to come. At the end of 2005, while playing for the Under-19s against England, he showed signs of promise by smashing 112 off just 71 balls to assist Bangladesh in cruising to victory. The left-hander is seen to be one of Bangladesh cricket’s most promising young players and is possibly the nation’s hardest cricket ball hitter. Although it’s lovely to see him play with grace and finesse through the offside, his signature shot is the straight drive, finished with textbook-like follow-through.

Tamim has found England’s bowling attack to be especially to his liking, and a great run of form against them in two series, home and away, resulted in five scores of more than fifty in six Test innings, with his spectacular 103 at Lord’s in May 2010 serving as the high point.
