Nazmul made his first-class debut for Rajshahi in November 2014, and the following year he scored his first-class century. He played his first real game of local competition in the 2016 Dhaka Premier League, scoring 537 runs at a 41.30 average. However, it was his performances at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup (259 runs at 64.75) that caught the attention of the selectors and convinced them to choose him for the senior team’s training camp in Sydney prior to their 2016–17 New Zealand tour.
